Hello, My first post here My wifes car is a 2000 Lincoln Town Car with just 75000 miles with" FNZTA" PEARLESCENT WHITE She hit a stump with the left lower front "bumper cover" now it has a dent about the size of a basketball , there's no tearing or holes on the cover have looked behind the damage and it looks like it could be pushed back out, would I need to heat it up a little before trying to push out I planned to have it painted sometime early next year but I want to repair some of the little stuff first(litte dents and scratches) I have done a little body repair on metal but this will be my first plastic repair.

It's IMO an oxymoron to call these things "bumpers" at all as they don't tolerate being bumped without full damage. Not my trade but you'll probably find Styrofoam supporting the plastic cover over metal inside for strength if you call it that and is messed up pretty bad. Highly unlikely to just push out and look good ever without tossing everything that was impacted and repainting as needed. You'd be shocked but that sounds about like $2,000 bucks worth or more if it bent any cosmetic body metal! Pics would help but suggest you have an auto body repair shop take a look and perhaps an appraisal of what is needed then decide how much of it you want to do yourself or fake something to just have it back safely in place, T

There is nothing behind the cover that was touched and its is very easy to get to once the tire is removed what I wanted to know is about pushing it back out would heating it up help it come back out and not tear it up? I know I'm going to need to clean it up once its out as much as possible. If I take it to a body shop they will want to replace entire thing, if so I will go to a u-pull-it yard but I belive I can fix this one.

Yes, you should be able to push it out and yes a little heat from a blow dryer or heat gun will help. You probable want to push it out first and then massage the creases with heat to relax them. Don't burn the paint. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
