Painting a pickup

Getting ready to give a shot at repainting a 1995 Nissan SE...The truck is my X wifes.. And it's a damn "plum" or "purple"..Gives me the chills to look at it...lol.Anyway, It has a few small dents and scratches. Should I give it a good sanding and spray a " primer filler' to smooth most of this out and for my cover coat to adhere to? Thanks for any advice.....Pete

Search YouTube for videos of body repair similar to what you're doing. You'd be amazed how much is out there, but you do have to sort through the crap some people post who have no clue what they're doing. The big thing with body work is to get all dents and blemishes out during the start, finishing scratches out in the primer stage. Dents typically take some filler. Once you shoot the color coat any imperfections stick out like a sore thumb. If it turns out poorly, tell everyone that the guy your ex is with painted it.

I think this would work for you WD-40 works for everything, I have used it for my car. And WD40 works good for removing the glue. Truck Repair

You need to post a pic of the "dents" . Scratches usually are simply in the paint, and can be sanded out, or might need a heavy primer coat to be block sanded to remove them. Dents on the other hand usually take a little more work. You could use body filler and then block sand them to achieve a smooth finish.
