zbart will power wash , apply rust eliminator and a coating ( pertoleum base & fibers ? ) my under carriage of my 94 1/2 ton gmc for the special price of $600** . The frame is solid but has surface rust , nothing is rotted through .. Does any one have an opinion of this treatment or if it's worth it ? Thanks .

My opinion is that anything that is applied after the vehicle leaves the dealership is nothing but temporary. Rust is like cancer and once it sets in, nothing can completely remove it. That by brand name even done on NEW didn't help if not harm a known to rust GM (about any) truck lots older than this and again about this old. Both IMO and the problem is rust is "alive" lives without easily killing it. Removing all via all parts off and an acid dip of frame and parts your best bet. What you can do is because it absorbing oxygen (note the word "oxidization") so something that prevents that exposure does work OK. No longer legal here in MA the world's rustiest spot known easily blamed on use of rock salts in Winter and weather that melts and re-freezes daily right here not North of this or South by much so re-salt daily all vehicles same color for a while. What works is to spray thinned or not gear oil light enough so it alone doesn't clog small holes to drain moisture. It will go under rust flakes you can't get them they are hidden inside stuff so what you see is NOTHING compared to unseen. That repels all water/salted water for a pretty decent time done annually. Downside is collecting dust and icky, oily chunks fall off? It works, can be pressure washed off with solvents if welding needed - body work, frame chunks welded in when needed. #1 warning is don't allow it on friction anything or wiring plugs all underside. Was routine in NH for ages do annually their used vehicles are 10X better than ones from MA or were. For you and practical now is do that yourself (NO PAINT THAT HARMS RUST) over it or seals it in to eat out a hole and hit the holes till you see it drain out. Spray all metal lines, brakes, fuel, fuel filters that use flare nuts, trans lines, parking brake cables, pivots to shifting things - EVERYTHING THAT MOVES. Last warning is DO NOT SPRAY ON CONVERTERS OR EXHAUST ANYTHING THAT GETS HOT ENOUGH IT WILL CATCH FIRE USE YOUR HEAD. Good luck you can slow it down a LOT but eventually it wins sorry to say, Tom

O.K. Thanks , for $600** I can spend two days under there and have crab legs for dinner and it'll last just as long . As seen on T.V. it rots out under the coating .

Lots less $$. First I use if they have enough at Wallyworld is their brand of spray lithium grease. Known spots that are or will be trouble. That grease is sold as CRC and under WD-40 now too just cost double or more you'll use many cans. Sorry for another novel but this is wreckage of vehicles, roads THE FREAKING SIGNS even bust off! Sides of roads littered in exhaust parts, bumper parts and who knows what ALL year round a crew picking up that crap. Guard rails cant take it - how special? New Hampshire uses WOOD for guard rails is just 30 miles from me has a clue. Away from well travelled road they'll only sand/salt intersections and hills with a problem too. Rock salt only works at all to about zero it's gets tons colder in mountains so what good is it? Sand please, that works. It's the beef of my life thing rotting out for damn rock salt - OCEAN salt is nothing in comparison. Those orange rocks of it wont stop eating a hole in anything till washed away totally and on out to sea. Asphalt doesn't even like it never mind make dust out of concrete my shop floor is full of pocks where it falls off are a PITA to fix to hold jack stands or things! Still we have a fight state by state more out quitting it so the fight continues for many like us if you mentioned it. I do only to a point like said if I must be out in that sh*t when wet roads of it that vehicle is doomed later. One more is to still pay attention to the electrical connectors with spray SILICONE if you can get thick stuff. The wire isn't either copper or lead in many things right at MY 1993 the zinc mixed stuff is faster to rot than lead (Pb) copper the most reasonable is brass don't see it much now. The best news for you is almost every screw on a GM truck name is available new even if cloned you can get almost anything AYOR on how good the clone is metal or about anything on them long before MY 1993. Good luck Doc, you can keep it I do on same thing just a couple years newer have to use it so wild bucks thrown at it in welding sh*t strong again plus looking at least OK, Tom
