Hi everyone. I know very little about cars. I need to change the brakes on my car and its gotten tricky. Someone was suppose to come do it for me, but they never showed so here I am doing it by myself. I have changed brakes before and its always been straight forward. Ive never changed brakes in this car though. So I got the tire, caliper and old brake pads off. There was something I hadn't seen when changing brakes before and that was two v shaped "springs". I call them springs cause that's all I can thing that they are. I cant figure out how to get the new brake pads in the caliper while also getting the spring on. Ive struggled and struggled with it and am just stuck now. I cant do it. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to get these "springs" in the appropriate position? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There are two blots that hold the brake caliper bracket on the car and two bolt that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket. I don't know for sure but I suspect you have taken the caliper and the bracket off together as on piece. If this is the case what you need to do is unbolt the caliper from the bracket and put the bracket back on the car. Then put the caliper in place as if you already had the pads on, but without the pads. Install the top bolt that holds the caliper to the bracket and swing the caliper up and out of the way so you can install the pads. Put the pads and the retainer springs you spoke of in place. While holding the pads in place swing caliper down and over brake pads. Install the bottom bolt that holds the caliper in place and recheck all bolts to make sure they are tight. Good Luck Jeff
