1999 Suzuki swift sedan 1.3l ~60.000kms
Hi!
Okay so here is what happened in detail: I got in the car, started it, all is well. I lowered the parking brake lever all the way down and the car was not moving. Car was parked on a slope so it should have started moving forward without me putting it in 1st. It felt like the parking brake didn't fully disengage or got stuck. I pulled the parking brake back up and lowered it all the way down again (parking brake light also turned off on the dash). Still not moving. I revved to 1.8k rpms and rode the clutch and after that the car suddenly jumped forward and I heard a snapping noise. It wasn't really-really loud but it was easily noticable. I tested the parking brake immediately afterwards and it still worked. I started moving slowly with the car then started braking and I started hearing some kind of slow scraping noise but only during braking. When braking the car felt like it lost some of the braking power but I am not a 100% sure about this. The noise disappeared after 7-8kms of driving back home but I didn't drive since so I can't tell if the noise would come back. Front has disc brakes the rear has drums. The parking brake cable has been tinkered with by a mechanic 2-3 months ago because according to them it was too loose. (was 7-8 clicks to fully engage and now it is around 5, which is supposed to be normal?). Any clue what broke?

Thanks,Ferenc

You have a 21 year old car and a rusted out parking brake cable would be no surprise.

Forcing it when this happens can do far more damage which it sounds like you may have done. At this point you need to get it to a shop for a complete inspection and find out not only what the original problem may be but and further damage that may have been caused by trying to force it to move.

At this point you should use a tow truck or it's going to get even worse.
