This is a 2007 Buick Lucerne LXS belonging to my mother she's noticed and I noticed after driving it and the breakers get good and warm the rear breaks make a moaning groaning noise when coming to a stop. I even had a mechanic who we use he and I took out for test drive but didn't make a peep don't think he drove far enough. Plan on having him to look at it and fix it I will not touch that car, but like to get a possible diagnosis so can tell him to give him a better idea what to look for. As stated he test drove it already once and didn't make a peep.

well all I can add is that you are doing the right think, have a professional look at it, leave them the vehicle for the time needed to get 'good and warm' - a inspection of the brakes will require removing wheels BUT they should be able to duplicate the condition given some time.

If that has drum rear brakes it's pretty common for the rear wheel cylinders to seep fluid and contaminate the brake shoes which will make a noise like that. When you look at it if the shoes and brake dust is very dark, almost black, that is a good indication.

This vehicle is all the way around disc breaks. Your right about the drums making a sound like I discribing that's why I'm scratching my head but I not working on it just hope the mechanic can get it to duplicate for him.

Has this vehicle had any brake work done recently? Cheap pads or pad slaps can cause problems like yours. Did the mechanic just drive it and that is it? Did he/she pull the wheels and check out the brake parts? Hung slide pins, uneven brake wear from hardware/caliper issues, and etc. can cause noise and poor performance that might get caught during a visual inspection.

He meaning the mechanic just test drove it didn't put it on stand to remove rear tires to do a visual. Plan on taking it back to him as soon as I can.

Well said by DS. Pad "slap ins" fine or not, quality fine or not all of it counts. To see the pads (can't find drum service brakes for this) you need to lift caliper up and look right at the friction area of pads. Small spider cracks they failed and can make assorted noises at assorted times. You can't see that with just wheel off inspection,
