Brakes totally locked-up. Dealer analized as defective booster. I replaced both the booster & master cylinder. Car ok for a few miles then they locked up again...suggestions?

Can you release some brake fluid (just a tiny bit) at a line or bleed WHEN it does this? Kinda seems like fluid pressure can't return to master cyl. so assorted reasons are on the maybe list. Brake pedal inside somehow is out of adjustment to push rod almost nothing is adjustable it would be damaged somehow.
Does it free up if it cools down a while and can drive again? Seems like you didn't just get towed several times now or just what?

It can happen that fluid can't return after any braking or none if master cyl. thinks there's any pressure on it it locks that pressure till released. Heat of just engine heats up fluid alone can apply brakes without touching the pedal if the case. Finding out what causes or caused that now two different boosters and a new master it probably isn't either of those,

This kinda smells like contamination.

You need to first determine how many wheels are locking up and for how long before you know where to start looking.

Oh NO if so! Do you still have the old master cyl? Caps are rubber where filled will even distort FIRST if an oil was the culprit as oils vs brake fluid oil floats on top till used a few times then mixes.

Hope not that's a horror show no pun on time of year!

The first steps should be to determine which wheels are being effected.

OK after letting it sit for a few days breaks seemed normal. Drove for 2 miles and they seemed to be dragging. They then locked up but was able to get it into my garage. Jacked it up and found all 4 wheels locked. Noticed "ESC off" light on and would not return to normal. Pulled the ESC fuse which shut ability to start off. Replaced the fuse & got the same indication. Disconnected the battery for 20 minutes in an attempt to reboot computer. No change to anything.

Never disconnect the battery to fix something. All you accomplish is the erase all the diagnostic data that may have been saved.

Since all 4 wheels are being effected you can concentrate on the master cylinder.

Here is a test for you to try.
The next time things get locked up, go to the nuts that hold the master cylinder on and loosen all of them by about 1/4" and then pull the master away that amount. Now see if the brakes released.

WORKED!!! Thank you. I would never have gone there. I added a couple of washers to make the spacing permanent. This "fix" also caused the ESC to now operate properly. I also changed the brake fluid (it looked contaminated and there was air in 2 of the lines. I have only driven it 2-3 miles but it looks great so far. I will let you know after I put some miles on it. Thanks again...Ray

No, washers are not the answer. You need to bolt it back up and adjust the pushrod to have just a slight bit of play before hitting the master. It's too long and not releasing pressure. You may have to remove the master to access that.

Leaving those washers will cause problems.
