59 Ford T-bird rear brakes lock Sign In

It's had front disc conversion, new aftermarket MC and booster (manuf. stated pushrod is pre-adjusted), all new brake lines and hoses, new rear wheel cylinders, new shoes. Rear brakes still lock when warmed up. Pedal and brake light switch have been adjusted/checked multiple times.

Only other remedies I can think of are e-brake cables and new shoe hardware. Anyone else have thoughts into this? Thanks!

I'll try it's been "converted" so 1st question is did it ever work properly? I'll say it did and offer some ideas.
* Parking brakes are a nightmare to adjust ONCE hopefully a huge mistake is to keep playing with those once right will or could cause drag to both rears.
* Another is this should have just one flex hose to rear differential then metal line to wheel cylinders. That hose by age if no clue how old has to go now. Those can lock fluid pressure in and not return it.
? - You said Non Adjustable for booster to master? If your brake pedal doesn't have a free-play spot up top it's locking fluid from returning when warm just the heat expands fluid in lines and calipers now first they'll return pressure and apply brakes without much but might be free when first used? Feel for the play with a finger - also deplete vacuum and feel for it again without confusion of power assist. Just push pedal a few times the boost (engine off) is gone.
There's also proportioning valve IDK what disc set up was used T-Birds first used front discs in 1964! Early and a PITA had just one reservoir for master not till 1967 did dual come in mandatory for that year (all vehicles) was scary.
An easy first is set parking brake, count clicks. Should be part way down before it grabs back wheels. If too soon that needs attention may not be the issue.

Good luck this is a can do issue finding what's at fault your observations.
Last note: There has to be some way from pedal to booster to adjust pushrod maybe not from booster to master look for it so you know anyway up under dash,

There is really only a couple things this can be.

Incorrect pushrod adjustment (unlikely since it's the rear only)
Bad flex hose at the rear axle
Contaminated brake fluid.

It looked up before conversion. Parking brake grabs after a few clicks but perhaps it needs a little more adjustment. Flex hose by rear diff. has been replaced. The pushrod is adjustable, but it came paired w/ MC and I was told it's preset or pre-adjusted. I'm giving benefit of the doubt it was preset correctly. Im certain there's enough free play in pedal but I'll check again.

Pushrod - It HAS to have something at the pedal inside not booster-master. Not it if free-play.
Park brake - ? Few you mean 3 clicks it's firmly holding? Too tight. Load in the car or how road situation going slow even it's pulling that cable some as differential moves. There should be just one cable to the adjuster "T" then off to each wheel.

If you take a wheel off (both better) see if shoes anchor at "anchor pin" not on the parking brake bar. If on the bar NG it will be funky all the time.

Contamination!! OMG, hope not but look if anything is floating at top in master cyl. that oily if so SCREEEM! What a disaster if so,

Tom
(edit more in) Remember OE the brake lights came on from near or on OE master cyl. a pressure switch. Now should be at the pivot bar of brake pedal inside - find the adjustment that made up or from newer...

Who told you it was pre-adjusted? That rod isn't adjusted until it is paired with the brake pedal.
