Hi. I have a 1973 ford f100 pickup with a 302 and fmx automatic. I pulled this truck out of a field after it had sat over a decade. I got the truck to run but has absoluteluy no brakes. will not build up pressure. I replaced the master cylinder and still nothing. cracked bleeder valve on caliper and its dry. any help with this would be appreciated. thanks

Is it losing the fluid or you just can't get it to flow to the wheels? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Did you bleed the master before putting it on? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Yes, that makes bleeding easier. Crack open the lines at the master until fluid starts draining and then re-tighten them. I would then completely remove the bleeders from the front wheels and let it gravity bleed. Make sure you keep the master full. The bleeders themselves could be plugged up. If they are you can use a small drill bit to dig the crud out of them. You may end up needing a pressure bleeder.

As HT said get the master to work right at it. If it means taking it off and "bench bleeding" that do it. Anyone correct me if wrong but I think there's a likely red rubber button or just the button without the rubber cover on the proportioning valve that may have to be pushed down to center it or fluid wont flow to either the front or rears. I think the idea was to give a better % of braking with a failure of either front or rear system. Those should self center to a "home" position but might not now. If all is centered and air out of master these should plain gravity bleed out. Sitting that long brings out plenty of possible snags, T
