I am replacing the ABS speed sesnor, rear side driver side, and I got the old sensor out, cleaned the hole where the sensor goes, but when I try to drop the new sensor in the fit seems excessively tight. Moderate pushing pressure does not seem to get the sensor down into the hole.

I looked, and the sensor does not appear to be keyed.

So before I use more than moderate pushing pressure on this delicate looking sensor, I just wanted to see if replacing an ABS speed sensor generally requires a good amount of pushing force to get it seated in the hole? Thanks.

No, it should not be that tight. Sometimes coming out is hard but going in should not be.

Match it with the old one and see if they are the same diameter.

Thanks for the reply. It was the correct sensor. It was the same as the one I took out. I added a little grease to the inside of the hole and tapped the sensor into place with some light hammer taps on a punch against the mounting plate of the sensor.

If it's in now and working, great but I would never hit a sensor with a hammer
