Re: brake light on Sign In

On a Toyota when you have an engine code it also lights up other lights. Fix the VSS first and that will probably resolve the issue.

Re: brake light on Sign In

Hello, thank you for all the help but, I replace the sensor with known good, still doesn't work, my question is there are two wires that go to the sensor, want to know if the ground side of the circuit is computer controlled, if not then I can cut the ground wire and create my own ground, assuming power is there.

Re: brake light on Sign In

No,no, no.......... Don't do that. Definitely no.

There isn't a whole lot of info available concerning the speedometer circuit but i did see that there are 2 speed sensors in the transaxle. The second one is at the rear of the transaxle. No picture available.

On further review, that one doesn't seem to be connected to speed.

Re: brake light on Sign In

It appears the speedometer uses ABS speed sensors

DTC P0500 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR "A"

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

DTC Detection Condition

The speed sensor for skid control ECU detects the wheel speed and sends the appropriate signals to the skid control ECU.

The skid control ECU converts these signals into a 4-pulse signal and outputs it to the combination meter. After this signal is converted into a more precise rectangular waveform by the waveform shaping circuit inside the combination meter, it is then transmitted to the ECM. The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of these pulse signals.

Re: brake light on Sign In

I can't find anything that tells me which sensor is sensor "A".

You may have to use a good scan tool to monitor wheel speed sensors to look for a bad one.
