hello, everyone this is a 2016 sonata, the left side brake pads are dragging as the result the pads are left with no friction material. what could cause this except the bad caliper piston. the slid pins were lubricated,
thank you

You have the first 2 causes. The third is a bad rubber flex hose ruptured internally.

And since it's the left front there is a 4th possibility, a driver that drives with their foot resting on the pedal. It doesn't take much.

eyob - You did mean LEFT FRONT not also left rear or both left side?
It's all covered still have to include the left foot brake user if that's you DON'T. If another's vehicle ask or ride with them see the habit or ask if they'll admit it. Funny and not funny was a chronic problem OMG ages ago folks who only had std shift cars forever is a first automatic left foot has nothing to do so as HT said "rest" it there it's dragging. In short order that will cause problems.
Again if not yours or newly acquired look at the wear on the brake pedal pad is a strong clue of this if no other info and all checks out,
