1998 Honda civic rattle

Hello, I've had this civic for about a year, and the noise has been there the whole time. It rattles in any gear (neutral through 5th), manual tranny. I think it is a loose heat shield but I'm not sure, any help would be greatly appreciated! The dealership suspects it's the transmission, but they want to charge an arm and a leg to go fishing. Could it be a transmission problem? i don't know much about cars. Thanks for your help. Here's a youtube link I recorded today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytBChDPLvZY

Couldn't make the YouTube thing work? No matter, heat shield rattles are common. Engine off and cool just tap exhaust parts with a rubber hammer and loose heat shields will show themselves. Spot welds give out all the time. Depending on just what and where you can fix them without great expense. Many shops will want to toss whole pipes and might need to. I don't know of generic aftermarket stuff yet so you need to see what you have to work with whether a clamp or new weld or what might work. You need those things - they didn't put them on for good looks, T
