Hi!
I’m having more issues with my 2002 Toyota Corolla. It’s been my daily driver for a month and a half now.
I’m having an issue where there is knocking coming from the engine bay when accelerating at around 1500 RPM. It is sometimes short and stops at around 1700 RPM, or it is sometimes long and lasts until 2000 RPM. I cannot figure out what side it is coming from because the drivers side window is the only window that doesn’t work on the car. The knocking sound is very distinct as you will most likely hear in the video linked below.

The oil has been changed, sound is now more intermittent. Spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors have been replaced. Sound is now even more intermittent, but still happens once every two days if not once a day.

I didn't hear anything that would shed light on this. If getting better from a recent oil change and presumably unknown how long it had been IDK. A sound that is so limited or going away you may not even know for sure.
Noted in vid does this have 188K on it? Just info in the mix of this newly acquired car,

I’m quite puzzled by it myself. Yes - the car has 188K on the odometer. I got nothing other than he drove it 80 miles a day to and from work daily but got no service history. The engine oil does leak - but I don’t think it would cause that as the oil level is okay and I’m going to add another quart of oil soon which should last me until the next time I will get an oil change. I’ve been unsuccessful in finding a car that sounds like it online. I do most of the work myself as I’m a teenager with a part time job and cannot afford to have a mechanic repair it. Would you recommend taking it to a mechanic and have them look at it?

All understood. Seems the oil is now a key to the clues along with the oil leak.
Just that is frequently caused by a worn engine or a failed PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system. Idea is remove those gasses so it doesn't wreck the rest of the oil's expected properties.
If normal "blow-by" isn't creating a very slight vacuum in crankcase via the PCV now it PRESSURE pushes out oil, leaks a clue or result of that.
Find the leak(s) and know where it or they are. Test the pressure or vacuum at even a dipstick tube is loaded with info!
Again, understood can't own and start off with everything you start with what you have minimize losses it's old as cars go with enough miles for about any issue learn and use it just don't let it bust you.
Can be just me but take the web BS with a grain of salt! OMG the crap info is overwhelming up to WRONG info never gets removed.
Try for the leak fix or at least know what it is caused by you probably can control it as long as you need this without too much trouble? Can't say yet you have to pinpoint why it leaks first can go from there,

PS: Change oil again it's dirt cheap and alone can fix problems like this??

I don't know. That sounds more like a suspension noise that an engine noise. It's really impossible to diagnose a noise over the Internet. You need an experienced tech to listen to it directly.

OK, Hammer at least heard it. You said you couldn't afford a pro mechanic but just try if still elusive how much to just take a ride WHEN you might expect it for a clue. IDK, I can't speak for the world but would do that without charge for a quick check and look. PR to gain a new customer at some point you will need help this car or another,

The engine oil leaks when parked. Possibly an oil pan.

OK: We can do something now. When engine warm shut it off. Wipe the dang drain plug with plenty of light see if that's it! Could be + way 2 common from speedy wiffy-jiffy places. They sell repair things for most of those if so. Nice if you could cross that off you list,

I don't think oil leaks have anything to do with your noise. Can you get the noise when stationary?

Almost never. Every once in a while the sound will continue when I come to a stop but the sound stops after a second or two.

Just troubleshooted it. I saw this before, but it looks like the valve cover gasket/seal is very bad. The car is leaking about 0.5 quarts/week. Got my oil change done 3 or 4 weeks ago and the level was barely on the dipstick just today. I added a quart of 5W-30 oil which got it to about halfway between the low and full mark. The valve cover gasket could possibly be the root of all my issues.

It may be your oil leak but it's not your noise. Oil leaking doesn't make a noise.

It’s been a month and a half and the problem still persists, along with other issues popping up. It’s got a bad MAF sensor and a bad catalytic converter. I’ve fixed the oil leak, and even when the oil level is fine the problem persists. It is possible that it is a suspension issue - it needs struts and ball joints anyways, but I’d think that I’d feel it in the car, and it sounds like it’s coming from the front end. Any thoughts on what it could be?
Oh and the noise only happens when the car is driving.

Issues like this are found through inspection and not guessing.
You need to get the car up on a lift and look for any signs of contact, worn bushings, broken exhaust hangers etc.

Here’s what I’ve found so far.
I put the car up on tow jacks in the front. The only time I could replicate it is in drive. Knowing that the sound is coming from the front of the vehicle, I put my feet on the brake and the accelerator at the same time to replicate as if I was on the ground. This was the only time I could replicate the sound, not when I was in the front of the engine accelerating by hand. I now suspect it is suspension damage, I just haven’t quite figured out what it is yet.

You can't test anything that way. The differential will cause one wheel to spin faster than the other and that engages the spider gears which will create all kinds of noise.
Take it to a reputable shop and let them look for it.

I’m starting to have more issues with the vehicle. I have a p0171 (system too lean) and pending evap codes, including purge is incorrect. I have already replaced the MAF sensor. I also forgot to mention that the car engine surged at idle once with the old MAF and once with the new MAF. Shall I go for the fuel system and see what I find?

? You mentioned now back many posts it was leaking oil. Before you go all nuts with both age and miles on this how about checking if basic engine fundamentals are OK enough meaning compression and can hold oil pressure at lower RPMs strong clues it could have fatal problems now so at least know what you have to work with before pulling out the parts cannon.
Again, know what basic condition it's in you had NO history but suspect you're going to find out the hard and costly way,

OK:
There would be quite a list of checks best done "pre-purchase" to prevent the age old "buying another person's problem" car. It WAS leaking oil to ME (speak for myself) suggests it COULD have been run way too low which takes no time at all to ruin a good engine.
That could show up as leaks, noises can't idle properly. More that cold starts are NOT instant and noise free.
If any check compression, codes that aren't ready or pending there's a problem lurking with wear getting more likely. Bearings, valves and so on with such a popular car as this and some others isn't worth it vs another engine without those problems.
If need be already said have it checked out now by a real tech just ask for an engine health check and how much stop there so you can move on or then know it's toast and pick a plan B for it.
IDK, this is going nowhere IMO an oil leak is a warning if to a crankcase part now you just said valve cover which is part of crankcase gases either has proper pressure or vacuum is lost if worn out will NOT behave so easily as a one hit fix.
Just need to know that much now before you toss parts at it,

Ok, I think I have narrowed it down. It is NOT a suspension noise as it is now apparent in the non-moving gears, like park. The noise is coming from the drivers side of the engine, so it is probably something from cylinder 3 or 4, which knocks out the probability of it being an issue with the timing chain. Could it possibly be rod knock?
I plan on doing piston rings this weekend as it is burning approx 1 quart for every 100-150 miles, so I’ll do my best to do a visual inspection then.

Engine bearing noises can be diagnosed by sound changes cancelling them one at a time.
Sorry I didn't re-read whole thread right now but that old game of do a "Ring" job is way out of date if it really needed just rings (1950s and older) the engine is toast IMO no fix would last, work as simple as that once was.
Oil loss that much has to be showing itself somewhere somehow help determine the base problem that's super excessive so it can't hide from you,

You're going to put rings in a 2002 car yourself?
What makes you think that would work?
It isn't just rings that cause these issues. The cylinder wears unevenly. The valve guides wear out. The pistons wear.
It's a total waste of time and money to attempt to put rings in this thing.
If you want to do anything at all, consider finding a good used engine.
You never mentioned how many miles are on this thing but I'm suspecting it is way up there.
