2011 Hyundai Shutters when turning and has egg smell Sign In

Hi everyone, I have a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with 100K miles on it. A week ago my alternator went up, and I had it replaced. After it was replaced my car was running VERY rough, especially at idle when I turn (there is a shutter). There is also a strong egg smell when I drive for a while and then stop at a light.

The tech cannot pin point the problem, but my guess is that it has to be electrical because it all started after the alternator failing. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like it has a bad misfire now and the smell is your Catalytic Converter frying.

Have him go back and check all his work and see if anything is unplugged or disconnected.

Yup. Something left unplugged.
BTW the burning egg odor is/was sooooo common when folks put "leaded*" fuel in unleaded cars/vehicles. It wrecked converters quickly also.

If your nose can detect that odor that well then who put what in your fuel NO ADDITIVES I know of will do that just BTW,

* Lead for fuel was "tetraethyl lead" a Pb that fakes higher octane for lousy grades of fuel so it would behave as a better grade. Was working fuel back then it wasn't always people at pumps the place got wrong fuel (mistake or on purpose) in the tanks 'cuz it was cheaper screwing everyone!
