2012 Acura MDX makes a pulsing hum noise between 40-60MPH

Good morning/evening all, looking for some help with my 2012 MDX. It has 80K miles on and we bought it used about 3 years ago. For the past month or so our MDX will make a 'pulsing' hum. I can hear it when it gets over 40MPH and I can continue to hear it until 60MPH. The hum will pulse by starting out with a light hum and then gets louder until it 'cools down' and I can't hear it anymore. The 'pulse' could last for around 10 seconds I am guessing. My mechanic friend was trouble shooting it and said it may be the driveshaft. If you have any suggestions or experience let me know. Also, we recently had the brake master cylinder replaced. I had to have a shop do it because I stripped the lines (yay me). Not sure if that matters but wanted to include it. I appreciate your help

Sounds like a pitted wheel bearing. You will need an expert to examine it to determine which one it is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You think so? When I turn while the noise is occurring to either side there is no change. Would this change your analysis?

Well, I'm about 2500 miles away from you and your car and your description of the noise is not even close to being able to listen to it in person. Diagnosing noises over the Internet is just guesswork. The car needs to be looked at by a professional. Sometimes swerving will change a wheel bearing noise and sometimes it won't. It could just as easily be a differential bearing. That's why you need a pro on site.

Okay, accelerating or braking doesn't change the noise. I also tried going in neutral while the sound is on and no change. If anyone else has any idea I am open to help. Thanks.

Nobody can know what that noise is without being there to hear it. The description is a bad bearing, which one is the question.

It started with "screwing up" replacing a master cylinder was sent on to a shop. Now this? What was the reason for suspecting it ever needed the master cyl. in the first place? Perhaps you'll find the source problem there noises are tough enough in person at best guessing on web but go back and check work if there's a chance that caused a noise. BTW and a :-) I'm even more miles away just digging out of near 100 MPH insane winds and areas of way over 3' feet of snow complaint of the day was power to make more coffee at all costs keep that open! Never mind, go back to sources you messed with it before this noise and problem is probably your clue, Tom
