2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Dashboard Buzz Sign In

Hey all,

Sounds like there’s a Jeff Goldblum-sized fly trapped inside my dashboard. The buzz/static seems to be coming from the windshield more toward the passenger’s side. Radio and air controls have no effect on the noise. It doesn’t happen until I get to around 50mph then gets louder the faster I go. 77k miles, just purchased. Any thoughts? https://youtu.be/1-dQLmc7lOY

Thanks in advance 🙂

Since it relates to highway speed I would say it has something to do with wind noise. You could have some leaves caught in the vent or something.

Agreed - wind noise. You just got it some ideas from past crazy noises of the sort. Try using painter's tape on windshield outside sealing glass to metal over rubber seal. One section at a time or whole top, sides see if it goes away. If windshield was out for any reason or replaced especially non OE glass sealing can do that yet not leak water in if you've even had it long enough.
Wipers, lose grate to where those mount.
If you try the tape thing do remove it or get seriously good stuff this time of year sun is strong may get goo hard to remove! If that worked auto glass specialty shop is your best bet IMO and ayor if windshield busts if it has to come out or theirs? Not my thing know how easy they bust/crack when not installed is shocking!

Thank you so much for the advice. The dealership taped everything down and found it was the cowl. Replaced the part and the buzz is gone.

Now just curios? Was that the grates where air comes in at base of wipers - BROKEN or any clue how it became "bad" to replace that?

Brings about the question does this vehicle get exposed to ice/snow and YOU or another chip at that area and scrape?

I live that see more folks bust the snots out of wipers and things thinking ice MUST go when answer is WARM up that - any vehicle wastes gas/fuel but better that busted everything,

Tom
