I have a '08 Fusion. The noise sounds like when a door hinge needs WD40, except a deeper sound (bigger parts). It doesn't make it much in the morning, but in the afternoon when hotter (Houston), even with comparable driving, and also when driving maybe 45 min. Thought it might be struts (pushing down) but when idling in park and slowly turning the wheel, it makes the noise. Louder inside car than out.

Could be strut mounts or a number of other things in the suspension. Somebody will have to track it down through feel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Yes, that is what my brother thought, until it still did it when I gently turned the wheel - so as not to tilt the car. I am taking it to a mechanic in a couple of days, but it just would be nice to have a good guess at what it was. I have a good auto repair place (good = expensive), but if it could be a more minor thing, I might could get by with a less good mechanic!

Upper strut mounts is most likely.
