Engine noisy at start up Sign In

I bought a 4.2 6 cyl engine from spartan engines advance auto 1997 ford f 150 xl
Has only 3800 miles on it
it has always been very noisy at cold start ups sounds like a diesel until warms up.
Mechanic replaced oil pump but still hear the same noises?

What could this be
Spartan says its normal, but i know this is not true.
need some expert advice.

What kind of warranty does this engine have? What is the oil pressure at start up using a mechanical test gauge?

Can you record the noise and upload it to a video hosting site and then paste the link in here?

Yes, get the actual oil pressure as DS suggests. "Normal" for Sparta maybe but you can just smell not NORMAL! Hope the warranty is good,
