Toyota Camry 2007 Engine noise	Sign In

Hi,

Took my car over to the Toyota because of this engine sound (video attached) and the yellow engine light. I have a hybrid, so the sound only comes either when my car is using the engine or I am accelerating.

At Toyota I was told my engine was fried and that I should either get a new car/new engine.

I wanted to ask if they are 100% sure this the whole engine must go when they have not checked the internal individual parts to ensure a part rather than the whole engine require replacement.

Wanted to know what you thoughts are? Should I take it to a mechanic willing to check the individual parts and hopefully diagnose a problem with a part so I can save myself some money or is the engine truly done for.

I don't see a link to a video.

There are some noises that don't require any further inspection to know the engine is fried.

What and which "yellow" engine light? Not a specialist in hydrids those around me get dealer only help wanted to or nobody wants to work on them!

It's still a combustion engine several ways to determine trouble, sounds first are very telling.

What's the use history of the thing and miles?

Nothing lasts thru lack of some routine care 2007 do you know it's history?

As HT. already said, there are certain noises Where you know it's major problem without going much farther....IE a rod knock. Also since it's an 07 I'm guessing it's high mileage. Most shops don't like to Do internal engine work On high mileage engines, it's the same doing surgery on an 80 year old man. Very high risk for something to go bad
