vibrating noise on highway Sign In

I have a 2006 Ford Escape V6 w/ 4 wheel drive. It has about 54,000 miles on it. I got my oil and air filter changed and as soon as I drove away my car started making a vibrating/buzzing sound. It sounds like a cell phone vibrating on a table. I took it back to the oil change place after work that day and they had left a screw driving under the hood. I assumed that was the problem (the screwdriver blowing in the wind and hitting up against the hood) and didn't ask them to look further. Well, as soon as I got on the highway the noise started again. Now, two weeks later, the noise still occurs when I go over 55 or 60 mph. (at first it happened even at slower speeds but now it only happens at high speeds) I took it back to the oil change place again today and they couldn't figure out what was making the noise. (I thought that maybe the air filter wasn't secure and was shaking in the wind or something). Could this be related to getting my oil/air filter changed or is it just a coincidence that it started right when I left? What could be causing this noise?

It's pretty apparent that something is buzzing from the wind. They may have moved one of the splash panels or something like that. They are just going to have to look it over again.

As Hammer stated, have them take another look. Some of the newer vehicles have a 'flap' that must be opened to gain access to the oil filter. May even want to have a second shop take a look?

Re: vibrating noise on highway Sign In

yup have them check that panel

or maybe its a couinsidence that one of your windshield
moldings has a small gap just enough that when you do
get up to 60 mph air is getting under neath it and yes
it will make noise like a whistle

or howle noise i have a friend in the auto glass repaire
bissiness he finds all noises related to wind hitting
the car noise 1 of his tricks he says is to duct tape
the area in wich you suspect the noise is coming from

for diagnoses only purposes of coarse that could be the windshield mouldings to sunroof mouldings narrow down
the noise is it coming from the windshield wich side left or
right do you have a sunroof is it coming from the bottom?

after you have narrowed it down and you no where it is
its just a matter of either replacing a moulding or just
using a sillicone base to seal up the gap thats it..

It might be a good idea to use the spell check feature in the future.
