Center console issue Sign In

2014 Kia Sorento. Center console has gone out but I still get one satellite radio station (which I cant change) and the bluetooth still works. Anyone seen something like this before ? I have checked the fuses and all that are either console-related or non-specified look fine. Guessing this could be due to the back up camera but looking for direction before going down the wrong path.

Re: Center console issue Sign In

Moved this to "Car Stereo etc." section as that's near certain the problem. IMO and observations here and in person is this stuff gets hacked into wiring a total reason to get anything that doesn't plain plug into OE items and work OR now would see a 12v certified specialist with full info on exact model with which options where and what you can tap into for toys or any "aftermarket" item that use the car's wiring.

Anything today ever last wire is already just enough for how it was made new so careful thought on what you can tap THEN how well you chopped into wiring keeping the connections as perfectly spliced as possible and routed so vibrations and all aspects don't just rub and create monsters like this.
Who put this stuff in and how long ago? Did camera come with this car or an add on? If you did it go check for problems with wires you routed and the connections. If not it seems a bit moot to go back to who installed this as said adding junk is way too common to both quit working or cause whacked problems.
Sorry it happened but this is close to as certain as I can guess is what it is - an installation problem with this to begin with rearing it's ugly head.
My end suggestion is find the right shop to chase down source problem that specializes in any of this stuff,

Thx. Local Kia dealer replaced the b/u camera last summer. Guessing they did a crap job of it. At least my radio is stuck on a decent channel...

OK. Was that an original feature or add on by them if you know? These two issues just common sense shouldn't involve each other but not so fast.
Question now is ARE YOU going to look for a problem with wiring or hire this out? If both item are in console as per your subject line there's a connection by location. IDK, cameras new are in dash view in all I know assorted makes.
I feel for you it would be a headache I would need if my own. Already said this somehow suggests wires rubbing or a connection got wet/damp and started to fail and be a wiring chase if it ever worked all properly could again literally find where it lost continuity of something even if wireless is there some reason?
Off Topic: It's Christmas Eve for USA printed on calendars no matter what is the worst time to get anything done or fast help. I'm in New England is 6 states all use road salt for snow and ice raises all hell with anything exposed to it now about 30 years lack of using lead (Pb) the metal for solder and wires uses zinc and another hates salted water spray all over and under everything exposed can see wires get fat from corrosion there's a violation in cheap insulation or was mishandled fail later. Even without road salts you get moisture like or not inside and out just temp and humidity changes if you ever see dew on windows it's everywhere too wiring hates that!
What to do is the same. Find the right person IMO good at wire chasing not always the dealer is the job now IMO. The right equipment and find out how things were routed if all this was 100% factory known the exact route isn't clear so any hacking is a chase.

Wish you luck. Sorry to say I'm out of ideas for DIYing this yourself unless you want to buy as much info on how wires should be and what you have now. I'd sooner suggest if up to it just look for non factory anything probably near interior fuse box area first see if anything is rubbing? Good luck,

Tom
