Dash light in car radio Sign In

I have a 99 Ford Explorer with a AM/FM stereo with Single Disc CD player that works great except the light showing the time or station does not work. I can't figure out how to get to it (I pulled it from the dash) to see if it is a wire bulb or LED light. Any suggestions?

It's an LCD display and they go bad. It's not really worthwhile to try to repair it. Replacing it with an aftermarket radio would be the most efficient way to resolve it.

not really knowing exactly which radio you have, it's a good possibility you may have bad solder connections on the switch board.

Look Bob, I have read a number of your posts and I would like to ask you to refrain from giving advice on subjects that you are not proficient in. Telling him there is something wrong with his radio and take it to a mechanic as you did in the other post is not the advice anyone is looking for.

Re: Dash light in car radio Sign In

is the radio cd and radio only or cd and tape deck. also, is the radio din sized or din and a half????????? if it is cd only and din and a half, the switch board is the face board where all the switches are. there are usually a couple surface mount resistors that develope bad solder connections.
