Jeep Wrangler Stereo Problem

I own a 2005 soft top red Jeep Wrangler. My brothers are a little carless sometimes and leave the jeep to live up to its rugged reputation by leaving the top down and the inside of the car to face some rain and morning dew. My problem is: the stereo works perfectly except for the cd player itself. When I put a cd in, it tries to read it and then it says "error" and spits it back out. I don't really know much about cars and would like to learn how to fix this problem myself without having to shell out money for someone to do it for me. If anyone could tell me why the cd player is doing this and anything I could do to fix this so I don't have to suffer with radio anymore i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks again, Mike

OK, There are a few reason why stereo's do that. 1. It is not MP3 CD ready 2. The lens or reader is dirty or damaged 3. It does not play CD-RW or CD-R. SOLUTIONS 1. & 3. - Try another normal CD, see if that runs 2. Get a lens or reader cleaning disc from the store. Follow the instructions and see if that works. If this fails, I am sorry but you may be up for another unit. It is not economically viable to try and get the reader repaired as they are very volatile and once its broke, it keeps breaking (in my exp) Hope I helped
