Kenwood DNX521DAB Won't Turn On

Hi, I have a Kenwood DNX521DAB which will not power on. I have tried to bench test it by supplying power to the yellow and red wire of the harness and connecting ground to the black but my power supply goes into protection mode. I suspected that there is a short somewhere in the wiring harness but all tests show that this is not the case. I removed the harness from the unit and using a multimeter in continuity mode, I pressed one probe onto the power pin and one probe onto the ground pin and it shows that there is constant continuity. I even placed one probe on the chassis of the unit and the other probe on the power pin and again it shows that there is constant continuity. When I remove the fuse from the unit, then there is no continuity between the power pin and ground pin. I then placed a probe where the fuse goes and one side shows continuity with ground and the chassis. The other side of the fuse holder shows continuity with the power pin. Is this normal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does your power supply have adjustable current? Does it have a display to tell you how many amps the load is using? If your into electronics repair, you will probably have to open up the radio and isolate the fault. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thank you for your response. I have opened the unit and I have tested some areas and I believe I may have found the problem. I will be completing further tests as well as replacement some components and if it works then I shall detail the tests I conducted as well as how I completed the repair.

Good news! I managed to fix the problem. I opened the unit and started testing each of the components. Near the input power where the wiring loom fits, there was a big diode. I used a multimeter in diode mode and it showed that there was a voltage drop in both directions. For this Kenwood model, the diode is 1N5402. I replaced this diode and the unit powered up with no problems. Thank you for responding to my earlier post and hopefully this may help others.
