aftermarket audio grounding - need help Sign In

Someone broke into my 1999 Accord and stole the radio (who would need it these days ??). So I got myself an aftermarket audio and tried to hook it up.
What's available now is as follows -
a wiring harness that comes with the radio - all wires color-coded.
a wiring harness adapter - (almost) same color-coded.
I connected all wires based on youtube instructions - including black-to-black grounding wire.
Problem is I read online that grounding wire NEEDS to be "grounded" (for most cars anyway, although one posting mentioned Japanese cars may not need it)- touching some part of car chassis.
Questions of the day -
(a) is it "grounded" when the radio wiring harness connects to the wiring harness adapter, which connects to factory wiring harness (I assume factor wiring harness should have a "black" wire that is used for grounding).
(b) if (a) is NOT considered "grounded", how do I "ground" my radio so that it would NOT burn/short other parts of car electronics - e.g. should I connect the respective black wire on radio and adapter together AND to part of car chassis ?? The question is, unlike some clips on youtube, the black wire on the adapter for Honda does not come with a "hook", which is used, as demonstrated in the clip, to touch the car chassis.
A footnote, after connecting all components, I tried to turn on the car engine and then the radio. radio ran fine !! although I have since disconnected it (from the wiring harness) because I am not sure if the wiring has been properly grounded.

Any thought to share will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

General on this:
Almost the same colors means absolutely nothing.

#1. Is the original harness and plug to original radio/audio intact or just cut off in the theft? If intact there should be a unique adaptor for that car to the new set up using all the car's OE wiring taking lots of headaches out. Aftermarket totally suggests this unit would work in assorted applications.

If you are just looking to attach or find a ground most all metal of body and dash support parts are ground. If radio came with a wire just for ground I'd use it even if some ground by just mounting them. You should be able to find a ground wire somewhere nearby with a wire to metal to use and NOT just tap into a wire for an unknown that might test as a ground for something else,

Yes it should. The black wire on the factory radio harness is the ground circuit. Your adapter's black wire should be on the same pin at the black wire for the radio harness.
