2005 silverado 55000 miles, 1/2 ton 5.3L...service airbag...comes up on digital display, no accidents either.Where do I begin with this one?

You'll need to take it to a shop that has a high end scan tool to access the airbag module and see what trouble code(s) is being stored.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
