I have a 1989 Ford F150 4wd,V8 351 automatic- replaced starter solenoid and starter, still would not start, battery good. Discovered if I tilt the steering wheel up it would start but when i turned the key off the ignition kept the starter engaged, had to pull battery cable to shut off. The Chilton's repair book I have does not show a wiring diagram from the ignition thru the column so after hours of internet research and purchasing AllData I still can not find a wiring diagram from the ignition thru the column, any body have one or know where I can get one? At this point any information would be greatly appreciated.

You’re not likely to find a steering column wiring diagram as per say; what you will find are different diagrams dealing with systems (circuits) that are going to the column. For example the ignition system, starting system, turn signals will all be on different diagrams. In this case I don’t think you need a diagram; you kind of know where the problem is. Tilt steering columns were/are famous for what I call pop canning wiring harnesses; you know, bend a pop can enough times back and forth it breaks in two. Tear the column down; reattach and insulate the broken wires colour for colour and you should be good to go. Dan. Canadian "EH"
