1995 firebird Faulty Ground Issue

1995 firebird Faulty Ground Issue Sign In

I'm having a program finding a faulty ground. Ill start by saying my ses light it on, with 3 codes thrown 0015,0022,0035. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and found a melted vac line running to the map sensor so I also replaced that line. I noticed that when I removed the tps sensor nothing happens... I checked the ground on this and noticed that it was an open circuit.

I know were the ground is missing from, on the driver side of the block, front and lower... it is were a wiring harness bolts to the block along with a ground cable. I found the ground cable bolted down but the other end of the copper wiring was not connected to anything, i attempted to open the harness and look for a copper breaded wire running but was unable to locate it. This ground must be the issue to what is causing my car to run like Sh!t... not allowing my ecm to get any reading from what ever sensors were responsible from that ground.

I have no clue were to go with this, any suggestions?

TPS's reference ground (black wire) goes to the PCM. The ground is also shared by the engine coolant temperature sensor. Check the ECT sensor's ground wire (pink/black) for ground.

Ohm checking grounds isn't a good enough test when it comes to checking for good grounds. An ohm test can be inconclusive because the circuit isn't live. You really need to make your ground checks with the circuit powered up and doing a voltage drop test.

Okay, I get a high voltage reading on the ground wire. So this means the ground is bad? Now what? I assume the I need to locate the actual ground location... Any pointers? Thanks

What's the voltage readings on all the wires with the key on & engine off and also the color of the wires?

Check the ECT's ground. Is it the same reading as the TPS's ground? What is your reading?
