1997 Pontiac Transport 192k Hi guys would appreate any help for this as i have run into the end of the internet trying to figure this out. So i recently bought this van for my wife at auction, yea probably not the best place to buy somthing for your wife lol. Any way for the most part all seems good except a few problems. 1st problem i get a p0336 code, pretty sure thats a crankshaft position sensor, not sure which one tho as this van has 2. It kinda shifts a bit funny i think, wife thinks its fine. Other issue is the gauges on the cluster. The gas gauge does not seem to work, is at full but does move depending on if gas is used and or you put gas in. A read that there is a junction box under the van behind where the driver seat is. its where the sender unit and some other wires come together into plugs. Well on my van out of the 3 plugs that i guess should be there, there is only 1, 1 looks fine, another looks maby like nothing should be there and the last looks like somthing should be there but is not. I cant find a wiring diagram anywhere to really tell if thats the way it should be. The other issue is that the tachometer does not work. So ok, maby its becuase the crankshaft sensor issue, well on the ignition modual where the 6 wire plug goes, 5 of those should be used 1 being empty, well on my van the plug has 4 wires and 2 are empty, it doesnt look rigged but why would i have a tach meter if the plug didnt support it. Im sorry if this is vauge im trying to explain the best i can , if anyone has any questions please post and ill try to answer as best as possible. Also i can take pics if needed. Thanks again guys,

This code deals with the 24X Crank sensor which is the one at the balancer. As for the other unrelated problems, you need to start separate questions for those to keep this from getting too confusing to follow. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Here is a great video on how to troubleshoot that P0336 code. You'll have to get a wiring diagram to be sure the wire colors are the same as yours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzZNlPosGSY Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
