1998 Chrysler T&C Sign In

Reference 1998 Chrysler town &country.
I accidentally left the ignition key on over night.
The next morning the battery was dead.
I charged the battery and the engine started normal.
However the AC push button, wiper buttons and other indicator lights on that control console are flashing. However, they do turn the AC and wipers on/off.I tried disconnecting the battery ground to reset the computer and that did not change the flashing. What is the repair???

HellllPPP

Sound like it is flashing false A/C trouble codes based on the loss of power. You may try to run through a calibration/diagnostic procedure. Here is the procedure that I have.

1. Set parking brake. Start and warn engine to normal operating temp. With engine idling set blower switch to high. Turn mode switch to panel. open all A/C outlets. Move temp lever to full cold.
2. Press and hold rear washer and rear wiper buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds (until all LEDs illuminate). All LEDs should illuminate for 5 seconds. Rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper LEDs will flash alternately during calibration/diagnostic mode.
3. After approximately 60m seconds if only rear wiper LED is flashing calibration is complete and system is ok. If rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper LEDs are flashing trouble codes are present.(I dought you have any problems but if codes are present repost and I will help you)
4. To exit calibration/diagnostic mode at any time press rear window defogger button, rear wiper button, recirculate button or cycle ignition off and then on.

Thanks Jeff for the A/C codes procedure. It did work, however, there are different lights flashing which I assume is another trouble code.
The re-circulation fan and the A/C on/off buttons are flashing.
I gather that the trouble codes can be turned off with out doing the trouble correction, is that right?
Can I induce a trouble search?
I bought this van three months ago and really like it.
It has all the features; seat memory??? WOW!!!

Re: 1998 Chrysler T&C Sign In

You may try to run the procedure again. The procedure is a recalibration procedure. This is basically a code reset. So the procedure is the way to reset codes. This is also the way to find trouble codes. If all is well with the system then it will reset any trouble codes. If not it will flash codes. Odd that the recirc and on/off are flashing it should flash codes on other buttons. I did find a foot note on the procedure I have that I didn't mention about evaporator temp. If the evaporator is already cold when procedure is started(if you have been driving it or running it) than it can cause a false failure. So while you are warming engine to operating temperature in the first step keep A/C off until it tells you to turn it on. that way the evaporator dose not get cold before the calibration procedure is looking for it.
