So I have a 1999 ford contour with the 2.5l duratec v6 that was sitting for a while. I jump started the car and it ran for about 30 seconds then cut out a couple times and stalled. When i tried starting again there was no power to the starter. I ran a jumper wire from the negative terminal on the battery to the negative relay pin and now it will crank over. next problem... now that it cranks over i noticed the fuel pump was not working. I tested the connection and it is only getting about 7 volts to it. sooo... i ran direct power from battery to fuel pump and it pumped. Next problem. car still would not start and that is where i am at now. the car does start and run if i spray starting fluid into the intake. So now i am assuming the injectors are not getting power. not sure how to test that. But i am assuming it is one problem causing the no crank, no fuel pressure, no injector power. This car is driving me nuts! please help. PATS system is working correctly, ignition seems to be working fine. relays and fuses all test good.

Any trouble codes stored in the engine computer? Did you figure out why the starter relay isn't being grounded when using the ignition? What is the fuel pressure? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

There are no trouble codes stored. I have no idea why the ground is bad on the starter relay. And I only know the fuel pump is pressurizing because the relief valve by the intake sprays gas in my face.

Do you have a security indicator on or flashing when you try to start it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Well the key is actually broke in the ignition. So I am able to determine the security system is not the issue. If I turn the key on the red light stays on, but if I pull the broken half of the key out while in the on position the red light starts blinking the code 12. and when I put the key back in it stops blinking again

No, that is not how it's supposed to work. If the light is staying on, then there is a malfunction in the system. It's supposed to "prove out" in 3 seconds when the key is turned on.
