I have a 2001 ford focus with the 16 valve engine with automatic transmission.car has 133000 mile on her.My daughter went to leave work and she said car started idle rough and the engine speeded up on her. She turned the car off and waited. car would start again.I went to work on her car and it wouldn't start for me either. It did sound like it had a dead cylinder.I check the timing belt and it was fine.i checked spark and it was great.I thought must be a fuel problem. I went and got some starting fluid and sprayed some in.Wenet to satrt car and everything was dead.Pop the battery cover and the mount was loose on the positive. I turned the cable and she started up.Could this teminal being loose cause the car to turn over and not start? Thanks

If it was drawing the voltage low enough when cranking, the ECM wouldn't be able to power up and energize the components it needs to run. Possible you may have found the fix. Make sure all is clean and tight and see if you have any other issues come up.
