Was wondering if the ECM controls the Tach,speedometer & fuel guage? Can be driving down the road and all of a sudden tach & speedo & fuel guage top out,then go back to zero. Then go back to normal,1 time before with damp weater also started running rough but came out of it,the last couple times it has rained engine know runs rough at idle & under a load & check engine light comes on. I know there have been problems with coils & ecm's on these. Just trying to figure out if the ECM controls both and that could be my problem. Thanks for your Help! The instrument cluster communicates with several other modules in the vehicle including the ECM over a data bus. The information is provided to the cluster processor by these modules. The cluster's processor also has diagnostic capabilities. All the modules in the vehicle should be scanned for codes. This requires an enhanced scan tool. I would do what des said and get it scanned and diag first.
