2008 Impala noise from AC/Heater Sign In

My 2008 Impala with 100k miles has just started making a noise from inside at the heater unit around the passenger foot area. It sounds like the fan is hitting something or the door opening and close device is not working correctly.

If I have just the heat or airflow on or turned off, it makes the noise unless I change the vent selection from say floor to dash. Then the noise stops but just for a few seconds and returns.

If I have the AC on, no noise until I turn of the AC or turn the car off, then the noise returns.

When the car is turned off the noise is there until the delayed electrical features such as lights go off.

Is this an electrical problem or an issue with the units air flow door mechanism?

Any ideas on how I can fix this????

Could be a mode door actuator gone bad. You'll need to get under the dash with a flashlight and try to pinpoint exactly where the noise is originating.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thanks, it was a door actuator. I found an excellent utube video on how to replace it and did the repair myself. Sly
