2008 Pontiac G6 Not Starting	Sign In

Hi All

I was looking for some help regarding my G6.

I left the car for three weeks while on vacation, when I came home the car would not start. I tried to jump the G6 using my other car but all I get is a click or two with the check engine light flashing on. When using the power from the good battery all the lights and electronics work but the G6 still will not turn over even after I rev the engine from the good car and leave it connected for some time.

When I turn the key to ignition the belt moves about a half an inch and then it clicks and that's it.

Any help or suggestions is truly greatly appreciated.

The symptoms are a typical low battery voltage situation. First thing to do is put a socket on the crank bolt and make sure you can turn the engine by hand to prove it's not seized.

If you can turn it by hand, then replace the battery. When the battery is bad enough, even a jump won't get it started.

3 weeks shouldn't be too long and as Hammer said probably needs a battery.
Other things are GM sidepost cable hook ups to batteries fail at the eyelet unseen if intact pull OE (if so) rubber back see if bolt or cable corroded there.

Cables lack if not seriously good ones, BTW cost of those would shock the heck out of most folks would start this without a battery at all in a dead vehicle - $2-3 hundred bucks not the usual stuff out there.

Jumper boxes equally costly the better choice now.

Important to know. Side post bolts only go to battery you are not jumping the cable need to know that a routine is grease those - nobody does virtually all go bad if not cared for this is was a #1 road call issue many if other things OK could just tug on them but meant time to fix that by prevention or new cable ends now go for quality also can be scary expensive - so is being stranded!
