I've got a 91 z24 and the heat and a/c fuse blows as soon as i turn the ignition switch to the run position. I figure there's a short. Could one of the switches, like the blower or the main a/c switch, or the ignition switch have something to do with it?

The answer to your question is yes to the few items you mentioned plus a few others, except for the ignition switch. The short to ground is somewhere after the fuse that keeps blowing.
Now if there is anyway of having a good short this one is it, that’s because the fuse blows right away, it’ll be relatively easy/easier to fine the short. Compared to one that would last for a week then blow.
What you are going to have to do is to start disconnecting items in the circuit one at a time and trying a new fuse. If after you have everything disconnected in the circuit and the fuse still blows; you’ll be into chasing down the wiring inside the harness until you find the short. In other words where the feed/power wire has been allowed to rub through and is touching a metal object.
Here’s a wiring diagram that I’ve marked with a red dot showing the different items I would start disconnecting.
Have a good supply of fuses you may go through a few before you find the short. You could get yourself a circuit breaker like what you’ll find in the power accessory position in the fuse panel; (a small metal box) to plug into where the fuse goes. It’ll just kick off when it gets to warm and the come back on after it cools; you won’t waist as many fuses using a breaker.
One last thing, this 25 amp heater/AC fuse is also the fuse for the EBCM (electronic brake control module), engine cooling fan and the alternators field circuit. So the short may not have anything to do with the heater/AC system at all.
Keep it fun because it can be a real pain to find but when your done you’ll have a new understanding of why you sometimes have to pay a technician what you do.
Dan.

They are on the left side of the AC compressor.
