My 1995 Ford Ranger 2.3L 4 cylinder will not start. I have replaced the alternator and battery. When I put the key in the ignition position the battery gauge reads half to less than half and the truck will not start. Please help.

If this battery is brand new right now it may have been too low on charge from the beginning. Charge it with a charger.

If it will start with a jump I would still let the charger do the job and not the alt as if too low it's real hard on the alternator.

There are bad new batteries or all cable connections may need cleaning up. If you have a voltmeter -- not just the car's test the voltage at battery and again while trying to start.

If while trying to start it drops way too low -- like below 9v either the battery or the starter is in question. Try charging up the battery first, T

like tom said, i think u have a resistance problem. check battery post and cable, if the drop is more then .5 of a volt chances are it may not start.
