Is it "sparking " out the sides of the coil tower? I suspect a faulty coil wire..

What was the reason for replacing the "original" coil?

Did you put the 2 new ones on at the same time..meaning,you replaced it,same thing, took it back ,got another, put it on ,same thing? If so,I'm thinking here...hmmmm What kind of parts are you installing...where are the from? Have you tried a different brand... Go with Gm..AC/Delco....OEM...

yes same time and place autozone. going to try acdelco tomorrow. i dident know if there was something else that could make it do this but usually a motor wont run right on a ''leaky coil''

No,for sure it won't run right... I have seen where if the vehicle is running and you take a plug wire off at the plug to check it ,or its left off, spark will sometimes arc at the coil....but at the tower, not the side... That brings to mind ,most sets lately of Autozone wires I went to put on ..the boots weren't completely on and if you look inside the boots you could see where the wire/connector for the cap/coil wasn't fully in and if you put it on the cap/coil it wouldn't connect properly..would just be butted up against it. Same for the plug ends on the right angle boots.. JUst a stupid question...it is the coil thats arcing out the side and not a plug wire than runs near it arcing against it...no disrespect intended there..just asking...cause i'm thinkin' here all kinds stuff. Just racking my brain here...

no dissrespect taken i appreciate your time and i ask stupid questions too. But anyways no there are no plug wires near the coil other than the coil to distributor wire and i dont see any sparks comeing from the wires i changed them because they were arcing. i actually bought the wires at advance auto parts but i did make sure they were seated good.

Does this have OBDII or OBDI... If OBDII...scan data for codes....see if you get a code P0338...this code WILL NOT set a service engine light. Just curious. Let me know. Jim

Anyone come up with the fix for this yet? 1995 S10 blazer, runs rough. Same coil problem as listed in the post from March, 2008 by 95cheve00. New plugs, cap, rotor. Wires & coil were sparking. Replaced wires w/ NAPA premium (Belden) wires & sparking OEM coil w/ Accel 48K volt coil. New coil still sparks, coil wire gets a nice glow when it's near the trans dipstick tube too... Car ran for 2 miles, lucky to get back home...put OEM coil back in, truck runs again - but coil STILL sparks. Is Accel coil junk? Should I go for an ACDelco coil? WTF is wrong with this piece of crap? I love this truck, but I've spent more money in the last 3 years on it than on all the other vehicles I've owned up until I bought it! Email me directly if you can... Thanks In Advance, Bob (banditm@comcast.net)
