I bought a used Chevy Lumina. I test-drived the car before I bought it twice. The first time, I didn't take it too far. It started fine.
The second time I drove it something like 3-5 km.. it drove fine. I left it overnight at a parking spot I was paying for and the next day I came, the car would just click when I turned the ignition.
I left it for something like two months because I was busy with exams. I came back, and after charging the battery for some time, I got the engine to go. The car attached to mine with the jumper cables needed to be revved in order for my car to start. Without the revving, when the jumper cables are attached, all other functions work (ie. lights).
I drove the car to my home. I left it for a couple of hours and returned to start the car. It did the same thing as the first day I returned to my car: it just clicked. Now, it does nothing when I start the ignition. Once again, I can start it with jumper cables while revving the other car, but that's it. The battery was replaced before being sold and is a new battery. The lady failed to deliver the warranty to me, but the battery is said to be new (looks new as well).
What could the problem be? Is the battery faulty? Is it the alternator? Are the wires loose? Or is something fundamentally wrong with this vehicle?
I am desperate for an answer. Please help!

Engine size:3.1L v6; 245000km

A battery even a new one would croak if left dead for two months especially if cold out. Kinda like not watering house plants!

They don't usually just come to life again (some might) if watered later. Battery needs to be in a charged state to live.

IDK if that's the only problem but you'll need a known good, tested, charged battery with good connections to even test for other issues if there are any?

Hey I have the same problem your having. I would have to jump my car of every morning and evenIng. Auto shop said the radio was draining the battery while it was off. By the time I had got the radio out. My battery had gone bad but I'm about to get a new battery and I have a new radio in there so I'll see if that works. It should, but it might be different for you. You could try in plugging the radio or the cigarette lighter. Maybe take the bulb out from under the cup holder or the bulb in the trunk. Do you have any additional info you found out that might help me?

You need to start a new question of your own. This one is nearly 2 years old.
