96 Ford E150 Issues Sign In

Hi all,

We've got a 1996 Ford E-150 4.9L engine with 60K miles on it with a weird issue. Here is a bit of the back story:

We bought the van three years ago from a church. They needed something a little bigger and without the club wagon style, we (being a band) needed a great deal and they helped us out. They had an after market alarm on the van that would drain the battery if you left the battery connected while the car was off. Simply just disconnect the battery when it will be off for a long time and plug it back in/disarm the alarm when you're ready to go. It worked great for that summer we bought it, but then we let it sit for pretty much two years. Horrible, I know, it retrospect simply starting it every once in awhile would have been smart... So we had to do some work on the fuel filter and line that busted to get it running again, and it does now! However, and here is what I need help with: We lost the button for the alarm in the two years it has been sitting, so we have to bypass it by putting the car into the on position before connecting the battery. When we do that the alarm doesn't go off and the van works fine. However, if we turn off the car and do not disconnect the battery, the next time we start it up the car puts and hesitates when the gas pedal is hardly pressed down. It's almost like it's not responding when we push it, as a matter of fact, the van can shut off unless we start to floor the pedal. If we turn off the car disconnect the battery, turn the key to "on" and reconnect the battery it works fine. We are quite confused and would like any help you can offer. Thanks so much!

What in the heck kind of aftermarket junk alarm is in this thing? I'd find out what it is and have it completely uninstalled and any wiring spliced into restored as best as possible,
