99 GMC Yukon Denali electrical issue Sign In

99 Yukon Denali, 5.7 eng. aftermarket remote starter added
The radio, windows and wipers all quit working at the same time. The radio will come back on sometimes but then shuts off when I try to use the power windows or the wipers. It is like there is a weak connection these 3 things share in common. Is there a fusible link or something I should be looking at?

Could be a BCM (Body Control Module) issue. Post any codes that are set so they can be seen.

Re: 99 GMC Yukon Denali electrical issue Sign In

I just corrected my original post to show; radio, wipers and windows all quit at the same time. Wipers not lights. Power seats, locks and all lights are fine. Sometimes if I unlock and then lock the power locks the radio will come back on but the circuit is not strong enough to operate the windows or wipers; if i try either the radio goes out again. Is it any coincidence the these 3 accessories are all switched by the ignition swicth?

You aren't going to find any body codes with a cheap code reader. You need a professional scan tool capable of reading the Body Control Module.

I took it to a shop. They have SnapOn diagnostic equipment (large and expensive looking). They said that the 99 model yukon's BCM does not have on board diagnostics capability. The next thing they tried was to put voltage meters on the input and output of the BCM and drive the vehicle but were not able to recreate the problem. I may have them leave the center console out (the BCM is under it) and put my own 2 VOMs on it and drive it a little myself. Much thanks to the guys here who are willing to share pro insight.

They are definitely wrong about that.
