99 Taurus trunk lamp

My car is a 1999 Ford Taurus SE sedan and my trunk light stopped working. The fuse is good and I replaced the bulb but it still won't light. I can't see a switch that controls the light or where it is. Would anyone know?

The switch is a Mercury switch inside the light itself. Test for power and ground arriving at the light.

The trunk light switch is part of the trunk lid release solenoid on the sedan.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I stand corrected...........
The luggage compartment lamp is not controlled by the generic electronic Module. It is mounted near the center of the upper back panel.
The luggage compartment lamp circuit contains a switch mounted on the latch that closes the luggage compartment lamp circuit when the luggage compartment door is opened.

CHECK AGAIN - THEY ARE NOT IN USE ANYWHERE EVER and haven't been in decades! personal but my choice - Tale all bulbs OUT - no games. Use a packet flashlight if needed/

Yes, because they started using BCMs and security systems and no longer had a need for them.
This is an underhood light 2005 Grand Cherokee. I checked the BCM pinout and there is no input for hood switch. What is the round cylinder in the upper left corner?

I only found 2 states that outlawed them and most of the regulations are just about disposal.

This must be one of them HT. Even collected for free the Mercury thermometers and gave you a new one. Whacked. Used to play with that stuff on kitchen counter - perhaps that's what's wrong with me!

Nope, it appears they have passed many regulations concerning the disposal of the items but never banned them. Mercury has been and may still be used in rechargeable batteries.
Mercury Management Act
Chapter 190 of the Acts of 2006, amending M.G.L. Chapter 21H, requires end-of-life recycling of mercury-containing products; prohibits disposal of mercury in trash and wastewater; bans the sale of specific products containing mercury; directs schools and state government to stop purchasing mercury-containing items; establishes a program for removing mercury switches from vehicles; and requires manufacturers both to notify the state of products with mercury content and to establish collection and recycling programs.
