Battery Charging/Draining Mystery ...help! Sign In

My friend`s 03 PT Cruiser sat undriven for several months after her knee surgery. I started it every week or two and drove it whenever I could. Finally the battery stopping holding a charge and I replaced it. The new battery started off fine but then a couple of times I turned the key and nothing for a few seconds, then started up. Now it won't turn over at all even after 2-3 hours of charging with battery charger. The dome light might have been on for awhile but I don`t know if that would be enough to completely drain the bat and make it not re-charge? Thanks for any help!

OK - Connection problem somewhere to be found.

Said this a lot about "lead-acid" automotive batteries. They can't be allow to run low never mind dead and come back perfectly. Some may some may self destruct or while discharged even a new one freezes and will not when charged.

Test new battery and check for a parasitic drain but it all begins knowing battery is in good shape, fully charged and tests well.

IDK - there's a % of new that just isn't good also but still must be known good.

Ask again how to check for a parasitic drain. You think you left a light on and that's not the same just a mistake but same results,
