Blower Motor Resister Question.

Hello. Since May, I've installed two new Blower Motor Resistors on my 2000 Monte Carlo. After about a week, they just stop working. In both cases, I got a puff of black smoke through the vents and they just quit. My blower does work when the fan is on the highest setting. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? When they were working, I noticed my fan was very squeaky when on the lower settings.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you!.....scott

Change the blower motor along with the resister this time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
