Coil Pack Replaced but not starting

I replaced one of the 3 ignition coil packs on 96 Olds Cutlass, but now car will not start. Right after replacement car started and I drove it a couple of miles. it was missing a little, but I figgered it needed blowing out since the coil pack had been bad for a few weeks. I turned motor off and came back out a little while later and car won't start. The car was running, albeit sluggishly before coil pack replacement. Any ideas what to try?

I now have the engine cranking, but no power when gas applied. In fact, the motor chokes down when gas applied. The tach is swinging from very few rpms, up to 2,000 while idling. I pull the plugswires off the new coil and nothing changes, better or worse. Also put old coil back on to no avail.

Check for spark on the other cylinders and check for injector pulse. If there is no spark but the injectors are pulsing, replace the DIS Module. You need to pull all 3 coils and the module is directly underneath. It is a rectangular piece of plastic with a microprocessor built into one side of it. The coils bolt into and thru it. Make sure you handle the new one gently. Steve

Thanks Stev01832...replaced the module and it's runnin' and crankin' smooth now. I kept the old coil packs, too. The new one I bought yesterday was credited back by AutoZone toward the module price. I was a little nervous about getting that deep into the electrical system since I've never done it before. But turned out to not be much to it. Thanks again! p.s. this is my first use of this forum.

I'm glad the fix was that easy. Thanks for posting back to let us know how it turned out. Now you can come back the next time there is a problem with confidence, DanD, way2old, Tom G and myself are always checking here regularly. Steve
