Diode Help Needed

Hello, I have a S10 with a homemade 350 so manuals don't work for me. I am having trouble with aftermarket fan controllers, they don't last, so I am going to attempt to control the fans that cool my engine with homemade circuitry. I have attached a document that hopefully will provide all of the information necessary for you to advise me as to the kind/size of the diodes that I will need. If you feel that I am out in "left field" with my idea your advice will be appreciated. Thank You, Pete

Diodes are simply one way valves for electricity. Rather than go to manual switches, why don't you just ad a rely to the controller your using. If powering the fan is overloading the controller, then use the controller to trigger a relay that is carrying currunt from another source. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I know what a diode is and what it does, that is not what my question was. I also stated that fan controllers did not last and were expensive. Did you look at the attachment that went with this post? Pete

Yes I did but I would never wire a fan to a manual switch.

HT has the best idea. Those fans draw a lot of amps no matter how you wire it up, if there isn't a relay for the fans then you will have problems down the road. A schematic of the way you have it wired right now would be helpful............
