Dodge Neon 2002 Battery problem Sign In

Please help. I have a 2002 Dodge Neon and I recently have problem with the battery. My question really is about something in my battery cables. There is a fuse or something that looks like a fuse coming out of the battery cables and I have never seen that in another car. So, if I change the cables should i keep that fuse or whatever the heck that is.

Thanks

You should take a picture of what you are referring to and upload it to a hosting site like Photobucket and they will supply a link to put here to make the picture show up.

Not sure of just what that is. Some cars put a lot of junk right on and at positive battery cable. If messed up enough it may have to go. Dealer item. Whole thing right to starter motor's solenoid if need be.

Remember neg cable disconnected first and on last when done. You can get a "memory" saver but the cheap one that just uses a cig lighter or port and a 9v common battery will only last so long. Don't open a door and unplug any hood light or those wont work. Car's computer will reset, clock and radio will go stupid too. If any alarm you need to know the procedures first -- T

They didn't put an inline fuse on a battery cable. I'd bet this car's last owner ran a big stereo system and left the amp wiring in it. The inline fuse is on a power cable going to the power stud of the amplifier mounted in the trunk. Bet you find a power and ground cable along with RCA wires in the trunk.
