I own a 1999 dodge durango SLT 5.3L v8
on multiple occasions i am either driving and/or stopped and my vehicle shuts off for no reason. i pull off to the side of the road and my engine light turns on. and the words "no bus" appear on the odometer. the only thing i can think of is the computer having probs or somethin. but if anyone knows anything or has a solution i'd appreciate it. i'm getting frustrated. its a great truck it runs perfect

The bus is a twisted two wire pair of cables that connects to all of the computers in the vehicle. This allows the computers to "talk" to each other. Information is sent on these wires so that each computer can see what the vehicle is doing. A professionsl scan tool is required to properly diagnose this circuit. It could be an open or shorted wire, or one of the computers may have failed in that part of the circuit.

Without a professional scan tool you won't be able to "see" which modules are on-line. Yes, I would say this one should be left to the pros.
