Dodge repair advice Sign In

So I have a 2011 Dodge Durango. Electrical system error light came on and car shut down. Long story short, there is a recall on the alternator. Alternator fried the battery and the PCM. Chrysler put another alternator and pcm in it. Now suddenly their is another sensor going off for the airbag. They are telling me its not related. When it was towed to the dealership this light was not on. Could the surge that took out the PCM cause me to have issues going forward in other areas? I can't figure out if I should try to keep it or just get rid of it.

I don't see the connection.
The PCM wasn't taken out by a surge. That just happens to be where the voltage regulator for that car is located.

Ok. I don't understand much about those. I took pictures of the alternator smoking and the battery died and the computer went nuts when a new alternator was put in and it started turning things on and off. Lights turning on and off, radio, wipers...Everything went haywire. I assumed it surged. I don't know why it all went nuts but do I keep it or get rid of it? I'm afraid of trouble down the road.

I suspect you may have some melted and shorted wiring. The only way you are going to know if the Airbag problem is related is to have it diagnosed and see what the findings are.

So I got my car back with another "temporary" alternator and a replaced pcm. But over the weekend the check engine light came on and its a code P0128 which they told me was a thermostat sensor. So now I have that new error and the airbag error that showed up after they were done too. Any ideas on why all these sensors are going off or is Dodge just junk?
Sorry, I just wonder if this is all connected or if everything is just going wrong at once. I don't understand it. I didn't have any other real issues with it before this all went down and looking for some guidance. Thanks in advance. I'm just really frustrated.

You're getting some bad advice. First, there is no such thing as a thermostat sensor. P0128 simply means that the engine is not getting hot enough to satisfy the computer. It just needs a new thermostat.

Like you were told in the first place, have the airbag code diagnosed and that is the only way you are going to find the cause of the problem.
